As 2009 comes to a close, I find myself reading lots of different blogs from professional photographers in many different aspects of the industry. Having toyed with lots of different formats for my newly designed website, I was looking for a way to display my most recent work without re-building my gallery page every week and decided that if I can’t beat ‘em... I might as well join ‘em. (still not sure who ‘em is, but hopefully I will find ‘em) . . .

Anyways, I hope you will subscribe to the RSS feed by clicking on the RSS box to the left, and Please feel free to email your thoughts, ideas, comments, suggestions, and any other random feelings about my work as I continue to explore my photography into the year 2010.

While the sunrise photo shoot on the shores of Lake Michigan fell through, I think we still got some gorgeous shots with the Chicago Skyline in the distance. After an hour or so, we decided to seek refuge from the overpowering sun and headed for the Grant Memorial in Lincoln Park. The columns and archways inside this historic structure provided an amazing backdrop for a very talented dancer... Make sure to leave your comments below, I would love to hear what you think!
---D

Somehow this little treasure hung on over the years, albeit just barely. Being disassembled and sold for scrap in the upcoming weeks, the owners wanted to document what was left of this little piece of history. Check out the photos below!

Another album of summer beauty here in Chicago... this time of my adventure in Lincoln Park. My trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo was book-ended by incredible fog over Lake Michigan this morning and gorgeous butterflies in the gardens outside of the zoo. The zoo proved to be a bit of a let down, but I did get to meet one gorgeous young zebra. Check out the Photos below!

I have officially ended my time with the National Tour of Grease, and am starting to work on my next tour... Shrek the Musical. As you can imagine, the next few months of my life are going to be a little busy without adding in any photography projects into it, however, I will be spending 12 weeks this summer in Chicago, so who knows what will come up. Anyways, I figured the best way to take a hiatus from my blog would be to highlight the last few months of photo projects and shoots with the kids on the Grease Tour! Check out the photos below and feel free to browse the backlog of blogs by clicking on the previous and next buttons below. Have a great summer!
---D

Thanks to the input of Ms. Elizabeth Stacey, I was introduced to the ‘Elizabeth Stacey’ pose. (it has now been added to my repertoire and will now always be referred to as such.) I had never really played with height perspective in headshots prior to her suggestion, and I think everyone involved was quite pleasantly surprised with the outcome of what began as a sticky and somewhat uninspiring day... Let me know what you think!

I have spent a LOT of time in the past three months preparing for the end of this tour. In Pittsburgh, PA a side project that I have been working on since September 2009 finally began to come together.

I have been creating a “Grease Yearbook” for the cast and crew of the tour that has finally arrived! 46 copies of a hard cover book based around posed character portraits ranging from yearbook smiles to prom photos had grown to include numerous pages of snapshots that just barely began to chronicle the past 16 months that most of us have spent together.
---D

As the Grease tour winds down to our final performance on May 23, I have been swamped going through close to 10,000 photos that I have taken of this tour, and trying to take advantage of the (finally) nice weather that the last four weeks of this tour seems to be bringing us. I have been hard at work with a few different closing night projects with all of these images, and will share some of them soon enough. I do want to re-visit a post I made on Feb 25th, where I referenced some promotional photos I took of ‘Danny’, [Josh Franklin] and ‘Sandy’, [Lauren Ashley Zakrin] and ‘Special Guest’ Jim Jacobs, co-creator of Grease. As it turns out, the Canon Theatre in Toronto wanted to use two of the photos of Josh and Lauren for a display outside of the theatre... Check out that photo to the right, and a few others from that day below!
---D
